Hi guys, I am wondering who are some of your favorite famous yet lesser known Telecaster players in rock, pop, country, etc.?

Some of my favorites are:

Dan Baird: he is the former lead singer rhythm guitarist from The Georgia Satellites, and is also a respected producer in Nashville. He currently plays with The Yayhoos and Homemade Sin. His Telecaster is a vintage blackguard Esquire that used to belong to Steve Marriott from Humble Pie and The Small Faces.

Peter Case: Grammy award-winner and singer songwriter who was a member of The Nerves during the early 70s. He later formed The Plimsouls who appeared on the Nicholas Cage Valley Girl movie in the 80s. Peter plays rock in The Plimsouls who still reunite and blues and folk with his solo music. He often plays a 1972 Telecaster Deluxe.

Paul Collins: Collins formed The Nerves with Peter Case and later had his band The Beat on the Caddyshack movie soundtrack. Collins plays rock with his band The Beat and alt-country/country rock with his solo projects where he was backed by people like Chuck Prophet and Chris Isaak's band. He alternates between an early 60s blackguard Telecaster and a 60s Stratocaster when playing with his rock band The Beat.

Warner Hodges: He is the guitarist for Jason And The Scorchers as well as Homemade Sin with Dan Baird. The music they play ranges from classic rock to country and punk rock. He plays a variety of modified Telecasters from the 60s and 70s, which he usually brings on tours instead of Jazzmasters or Jagstangs.

Jim Babjak: Guitarist for The Smithereens and Buzzed Meg. The music they play ranges from classic rock to garage and punk rock. He plays a 52 reissue blackguard Telecaster at most of his shows with The Smithereens.

John Waite: Pretty famous solo artist with the hit song Missing You in the 80s. He was in The Babys during the 70s and also in Bad English who had the hit song When I See You Smile in the 80s. His solo stuff nowadays is more roots rock and country rock oriented, very different from his generic 80s solo music and hair band power ballads with Bad English. John Waite plays a Fender Telecaster at some shows, which is his primary instrument for writing songs at home. He plays a 70s Telecaster.

Gin Blossoms: They looked like Nirvana grunge fans but played music sounding like Tom Petty, which didn't hurt them. They've had about 8 hit singles and one of their albums went platinum. The singer Robin Wilson plays a 60s Telecaster at some of the GBs shows, especially on the song Until I Fall Away, which requires several guitars to translate the song live. It is also one of the main guitars he and his clients use at his recording studio in Arizona.

The Desert Rose Band: Formed in the 80s by Chris Hillman from The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Byrds. Hillman played his early 70s Telecaster in The Burrito Brothers before the lineup changed and he switched to playing his p bass. The Desert Rose Band included John Jorgenson and everyone knows his main electric guitar is the Telecaster, which he played with The Desert Rose Band and The Hellecasters with Will Ray and Jerry Donahue.

The top of my list is Stacey Mitchheart. He's a Nashville bases blues guitarist who played an array of guitars, but it seems to me that the Telecaster was his main guitar, at least for the '90s.

He played one of my Strats once and had a blast. I asked him why didn't play Strats more often. He explained that his hand would always run into the volume knob and he would end up turning himself down.

I remember a wonderful blue sparkle Tele that he played. He is an amazing player who I recommend to anyone who wants to hear some awesome music.

His band used to be "Bourban St. Blues and Boogie Bar" house band, but I think he moved.

Danny Gatton. He's virtually unknown in the concentric circles of popular music.
