Hello my friends, I need some help. I have a 1972 Fender Telecaster in sunburst, which I bought in 1973. The finish is very beaten due to many shows and traveling through the years. I have never done anything to the finish, but would like to spray something over the existing finish to preserve what is there and protect what remains. The maple neck also has finish chipping and aging.

1) What can I spray over the existing body to preserve the finish and keep anymore finish from coming off? I do not want to sand the paint or remove the paint, I simply want to strengthen and protect the current finish.

2) What can I spray over the neck to repair chipping of finish due to age?

I am hoping there will be something that I can spray directly over the existing finish. I have no idea what they used at the Fender factory in 1972 to finish the Telecasters. Thanks for listening, take care my friends.
