I've always loved the 52 reissue telecasters. I've never owned a telecaster, and I've been thinking about getting a 52 reissue, but I don't know anyone who's ever owned one. What is your opinion?

I owned a 52 avri tele and I just didn't like the 7.25 neck radius and the vintage frets. I have owned many many teles and guitars in general and I found my personal preference to be the 9.5 radius neck, modern "c" shape neck with 6105 or medium jumbo frets.

My advice would be to find a store that has both and play the different models....especially before you buy.

good luck

I think it is the ultimate and only telecaster

I have one and I love it but I should admit like niciflorida, the 7.5 neck radius is not easy to play with.

I have also another US made Tele with 9.5 radius. Is more easy. But is not the sound of my 52.
And I think this is my favorite, the 52.
Go to a music store and try both, very often.

If you are opposed to the 7.25 radius neck you can always go with the 52' Tele Hot Rod. it has a 9.5 radius neck and a sweet mini humbucker in the neck position. Other than that, it is pretty close to the same guitar. I know players who like the hot rod better.

check it out.

PS, I have 3 Tele's now, but not on the same quality level as the 52' reissue series. I too am looking to buy one of these. I may see if the Custom Shop will do it, or probably buy the Hot Rod because I like the neck radius and humbucker.

Hi,

I've got a '52 Telecaster maple neck reissue
I like the sound, even the dark sound with the neck pickup in first position. I use a Blues Deluxe and a Vox AC4TV, very different sounds but with the Telecaster it is amazing.

I've had the 52 tele reissue now for 3 weeks and it just gets better. I was concerned with the neck at first but adjusted pretty easily. Love mine!

I had a nice mim sunburst tele that I thought was nice but it was not in the same league with my 52RI.

where does this guitar place - it seems to cost quite a bit more than the USA teles, but quite a bit less than the Custom Shop teles

where does that price difference come from ?

Not 100% sure. I tried both and fell in love with the reissue. What drew me to the vintage was

1. tone
2. u shaped neck
3. radius of the neck
4. nitro finish
5. one piece maple neck

I believe the pickups are different. And the vintage comes with two bridges.

I just thought the Vintage had much more of that traditional tele sound..

i also thought maybe the pick ups

had a look at a 52 Hot Rod but those SD pick ups don't cost a fortune

they had two guitars there, one seemed to be a one piece but the other was def. a two piece or more...

I think a real sleeper is the '52 thinskin tele with the '59 SD Humbucker in the neck position - wow - that thing really kills it - 9.5 radius neck and 6105 frets - thick "U" shape neck.
