Hi all, i just saw a demo video on youtube about a 52 reissue tele, where the guy described it as having a humbucker bridge pickup. On my MIM 2009 standard tele, the pickup looks the same as the one in the video. I would like to know, if my bridge pickup is a humbucker as well. Thanks!

Well I can't be sure without seeing a picture, but I'm fairly sure that you don't. Unless it's been modified, I know of no 2009 MIM standard with a humbucker. Also I don't know of a any 52RI with a humbucker other than the Hot Rod which has a minibucker in the neck not the bridge. So he either was wrong or modded it. Post a pic if you're still not sure.

Looks like a standard MIM Standard bridge pickup to me.

I think the guy you saw on youtube was misinformed.

Maybe what he meant to say the tele single coil bridge pup rivals the grit and power of a humbucker.

Or perhaps he meant to say that he should give up reviewing guitars, as he recently became aware of his own patent inability to identify pickup types on sight?

I agree though: that '52 RI sounds awesome. The best bang for your buck in reasonably high-end guitars too...Dang. I want one now.

Maybe it's a stacked humbucker. Then it's surely modded

Would be easier to know if we could see the video.

I don't know how to do links or anything, and the video quality was poor anyway, but thanks!

Dimarzio have some pickups like this one .They call that :hum canceling, the Area T bridge.

We can say that Humbucker and hum cancelling are meaning the same thing
