Over the weekend my son came down for a visit and a jam session. He's a player also, and leans more towards doing originals and coffee shop music, where I'm the cover band boy and bar band. I let him play my MIJ '52 reissue Tele and he fell in love with it.
Easy to do.
Well, being the doting Dad I am, I let him have the Tele. I've given him something that means a lot to me, and hoping he'll appriciate as much as I have. It made me feel good doing it, and I feel it brought us closer somehow. Bad thing is is that he lives about 400 miles away and we don't see each other that often, and I'm gonna miss the Tele!

It will probably mean more to him than it did to you, if he's the sentimental type. It was just a store-bought guitar to you (I'm guessing), but he now has his father's guitar. That's a big deal - or it would be to me, anyway.

And now you get to go guitar shopping. Fun.

Nice job, Dad.

I got a suitcase and a cookbook.

That's a great story, and a wonderful thing to do. Good for you!
