Hey, what's your guys' opinion on the Jim Root Tele?

I would think so. But you might want to get a Seymour Duncan humbucker installed in it or something to give you a real metal tone.

Well, I was thinking, if I got it, switching the EMGs for Seymour DUncan Blackouts.

Well, one of the other teles I was thinking about for my next is the Custom Telecaster HH with the Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and a revese polarity '59 in the neck.

Yes, but you'd probably be better off with a Strat.

Any of you guys ever heard of a guy named Pat Travers? I saw pics of him with a tele (which means nothing; for all I know the Tele could have been a prop in the photo studio) BUT if he did (does) play a Tele he sure gets some heavy rock sounds out of it. This could be after market pickups but there it is...IMHO a tele would do fine in heavy metal.
An SG with P-90s would too; or a Tele with p-90s....

Just bought a Squier standard Black&Chrome that I'm hot rodding with some GFS hot rails as soon as they come in. They're a humbucker set that drop right in with no (or very little) modification. I like Teles with black head stocks like my '85 MIJ!

Hate the John5 head stock! It's a Telecaster, for Pete's sake! Not a Danelectro!

I like the Jim Root, but I think I can get what I like for a lot le$$. 8)
