ya you could, you might eventually want to change the bridge pickup. The lead guitarist in Suicidal Tendencies plays a strat and you can get way more sounds out telecaster. Cant go wrong!

yes a tele with some good pickups(such as the blackout tele) will do good for metal, but the marshall that u want isnt worth the money, go with krank or peavey amps even randalls thy are worth the money when it comes to metal

Jim Root or the J5 should be good for your style of music.

I play a lot of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal stuff. So, my question is: Would a Telecaster be good in that style of music?

Why not try a Tele with Humbuckers? Unless you are looking for classic Tele tones from the single coil pickups this may be your answer. What about the John 5 Tele?

Yeah, he did. My main Tele influences are John 5 and Jim Root, and I think I'm going to puchase a Jim Root Tele.

The short answer is probably "no". Without a lot of pedals, you won't get the darker/distorted/sustained sound you want. I'm a geezer, but if I'm jamming with my nephew or otherwise am inclined, I pull my one Gibson off the wall. But, a Tele would be great for just about anything else!
