I play a lot of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal stuff. So, my question is: Would a Telecaster be good in that style of music?

Teles are extremely versatile instruments. I have known several guys that play metal on teles. The bridge pickup is very bright and resonant for that style. However, you will get quite a but of noise when you turn up the distortion. Teles use single coil pickups which produce a slight operational noise. That noise is amplified with distortion. You may want to consider getting a replacement bridge pickup to help you acheive your sound. Check out the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Tele pickup. It's a noisless pickup, and it still retains that tele sound. Hope that helps!

Tele can play virtually anything - from it''s origin in Blues, Rock and Roll, and Hard Rock to Punk. I haven't seen may Metal Tele players.

Depends what kind of metal. As much as I love Teles, I couldn't see Cannibal Corpse or Deicide using Teles. However, the other guitarist in Sepultura (not Max) has used Teles, and of course there are the John 5 (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson) and Jim Root (Slipknot, Stone Sour) signature Teles. So with the right equipment and player, the Tele can do just about anything.

Thanks. I use an Epiphone Les Paul Standard for now, but I was thinking of getting a Tele.

i noticed that you play through a ds-1. o have one as well and it gets a little thin sounding with a tele unless yuo get a mod done to it.Like the keeley mod. and a little fyi, alot of people dont realize that Jimmy Paga used a tele in the studio in the early days.

Yeah, he did. My main Tele influences are John 5 and Jim Root, and I think I'm going to puchase a Jim Root Tele.

It is all in your fingers and what kind of amp you are using. I have all kinds of guitars and amps and I use whatever my mood is. It doesn't matter what kind of music I am playing. I will whatever guitar I grab. Tele's are the back bone of rock n roll. Look how much history that guitar has created. Fender is an American staple, like a Mustang or a coca cola! You enjoy getting a tele. Check out the Nocaster relic's. I just bought one and it rocks and I am going to use it on all kind of tracks I will be recording. :D

I guess you could. Maybe not the BEST choice, but I assume it'd work...

Throw in a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge and you're good to go. It still isn't a Les Paul/Mahogany sound but it'll get the job done.

The Tex Mex pickups on my Nashville pwr tele are absolutely sick. They can do so dark and heavey it's scary sometimes. Get a tele and you'll be surprised with this cowboy guitar's dark and creepy side.
