Hi everybody. I've got a 1966 telecaster which I love dearly. It plays like nothing else I've ever played before. After searching countless web sites I found a 1966 catalogue which showed my guitar. The only telecaster of that year with a sunburst finish and double bound with a maple neck (like mine) was a custom model. Mine checks out serial number, neck stamp & pots etc but there is no custom decal on the headstock. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please?

Very easy to post pics.

1. Register at a free pic hosting site (i.e. photobucket, flickr, imageshack, etc.)

2. Upload your pics to the site. (you can browse on your computer to find)

3. Copy the image link (img code) and then paste into a post.

Fender started making bound Telecaster in about '60 or '61. There was nothing special about them except for the binding. They called them "Customs."

I used to own what Fender called, "'62 Telecaster Custom." MIJ in '83. I loved that guitar.

I now own a home built one with maple neck.

1959 actually.

Custom colors on 60's Teles are pretty rare, and I think that unbound sunburst is even more.
