Fender Telecaster Plus Deluxe? Has the locking tuners, rollernut, lace sensors, bridge with tremolo. And I think they had the TBX also.

Just wondering how they were and how hard are they to find?

Hey Jason, Have not been on the Forum much this past week due to work and travel....anyhow I have not owned a Tele Plus. I have done quite of bit of research on them and also build the MIJ 1996 Ann DX Teles like them. I see these on eBay from time to time and the usually run between $900 to $1200. There are several models. Some with 3 pickups, beveled tummy and arm cuts with a bound top. Very nice guitars. There are the ones like in the picture you posted, that have a Blue lace in the neck and a red Dually with the 3-way Ultra type switching. Some even had tremolo systems. Some had locking tuners and roller nuts and others didn't. Lot's of variation on these.

In 1995 I was working at a California GC. We got in a beautiful Trans blue Tele Plus. It had the usual string through bridge. The unusual thing(and I have not seen one since) Is it had dually blues in the neck and a single red in the bridge. I wanted it so bad. I didn't have the money and our store manager(Reed you...ohhh...you...LOL) didn't allow employess to layaway instruments. I lost out on a super guitar. I have hoped to find one like it ever since and have not.

I did a little research on these as well - by the way your site is great!

On the Tele Plus models, from what I could pull together for the first series the Tele Plus had the dual Lace Sensor pickup in the bridge position and the single Lace in the neck. If the guitar had the hard tail bridge (and non-locking tuners) then it was a "Tele Plus"; if it had the trem bridge, roller nut and locking tuners it was a "Tele Plus Deluxe". As you say the Laces were all over the place - most have a Blue Lace in the neck and a dual Red in the bridge, but also remember seeing a few new ones in shops in the early 1990s where the dual was a Blue/Red.

I'm fairly sure the trem version was dropped around mid/late 1993 - I simply can't recall ever seeing a Tele Plus with the LSR roller nut; only ones with the old Wilkinson roller nut.

In early 1996 the first series was replaced by the second series - this is the version with the bound top. tummy cut, 3 Lace Sensors ("Nashville" Tele style), and the bridge changed from the hardtail Strat-type bridge to the American Standard Tele bridge (with the full plate). All the Laces were Gold label; the neck position was Tele-sized and the cover was chromed; the middle was Strat-sized and the cover was also chromed, and the bridge was Tele-sized with a black cover. There was also a mini-toggle to combine the neck and bridge pickups when you were in positions 1 and 5 on the 5-way blade switch.

The second version was dropped in 1998 and replaced by the American Deluxe Tele, which also had the 3-pickup "Nashville" configuration for the first 14 months or so of production before reverting to the 2-pickup configuration.

here's a pic of the last one you described.
I really like the belly contour also. The guy wants $1400 for this, which puts it out of reach for me.

The pic might be deleted if he sells it, but I'll save the pic later and put it on my photobucket to make sure it stays awhile.

Pretty much spot on!

The Tele Pluses and it's morphing into the Deluxe Telecaster are some of my favourite teles, along with the mid 09s MIJ Deluxe Teles (like Xhefri's faves).

I have managed to collect the various models:

Tele Plus Mk I

Tele Plus Deluxe

1996 Tele Plus Mk II

Is the 1996 Tele Plus Mk II the only one that has the belly contour?
