Hey guys and girls this is a simple thread in which i would like to hear about people who have some ideas or maybe experience with turning a Telecaster into what I will refer to as a Tele-paul :)

I'm considering buying a Mexican Tele standard and fitting 2 Humbuckers in :) upgrade the tuners to some sperzels maybe.
I will probably for the sake of it spray it sienna burst which is basically Gibsons cherry burst :)

I want a hard rock machine of a Guitar and this is what i intend to make my project into :D anyone got any experience with this possibly?
I know i could probably go buy a 72 deluxe or something and have very little to do but im after the retro look of the telecaster :D

If you got SD hotrails, or some other sigle coil sized humbuckers you could save the money you would spend on routing holes for full sized humbucker.
You could also get Stacked pots so that you could have independent tone and volume controls for each pickup á la lespaul.

Yeah I like the idea of stacked pots as i owned a squire telecustom which is awesome for what you pay :P
however im going to try and keep the telecaster look going so it will be the metal plate with tone and volume with the 3-way switch :)

Routing isnt an issue i have access to the necessary tools and machinery :)
As a personal preference i will be cutting the necessary slot into the stamped metal plate for the HB to go in :)

though then again im starting to reconsider that as im planning on using BareKnuckles which i know i can buy as Singles and they sound awesome too so ill give that some thought :)

Thanks,

Thats the problem i haven't however i have checked out videos and such to see how its done and its apparently straight forward although i will not be by anymeans rushing it.

I will most likely be doing the fading red by hand :) Im confident :P

I was going to suggest it would be easier to bolt a Fender neck from eBay or wherever on a custom body from Warmoth or USA Custom Guitars but when I read this:

I changed my mind. Go for it! It will be fun.

Here's a good site with information and products for refinishing guitars:

Why not get a Tele HH (unless you are looking forward to the custom work)?
