Hi all,

Im trying to find some info on this new tele i got a few weeks ago. Thing is, I got offered to buy an american made second hand telecaster from the 90s for about USD700 including hardcase. I didnt really think about it for long, decided to get and i still only have pictures of it, havent even tried it yet.

However, did I make a bad deal now? Ive been trying to find some info on this model. When is it made (1990 or 1999, can't figure it out from the fander serial guide...), how much is it worth second hand (europe/sweden, not USA)? Bad deal?

Any info on this piece would be great!

all the best!!

I dunno about how good a deal you got but the serial number is from 99.
Does it play like $700 should?

Hehe, thats the question...I havent tried it yet. My father was offered this from an old lady (it was her husbands and he past away some time ago) to the price of 700$, so he called me and asked me if I was interested to buy a fender american tele for 700$. Personally i thought it may not be an american std to that price, but possibly a highway1 (which is like more than 1000$ in sweden) or similar.
Anyways, my dad knows less than me about these things so he didnt notice the 'american traditional' but he assured me it was "made in USA" which apparently is right.....
Whatever, still nice to have a tele.
The lady was selling of all of her old husbands stuff really cheap so I.

Edit: The lady was selling of all of her old husbands stuff really cheap so I figured it couldnt be anything but a good deal...

These guitars can be hard to research. I wonder if it has original components or any upgrades.

The case is nice... I forget what these originally came with. I doubt it originally came with that case, but I am really not sure.

Most likely you could find one around 500 dollar or less, but yours looks to be in excellent condition and has a nice case.

I think these are similar to Highway 1, American Special for their time period. Looks like a nice guitar to me.

Yep, see my other post for the full story. If it plays nice im happy with the deal.

I was told its in complete mint condition, not a scratch =)

1990

N9 + 5 digits 1990

...or 1999?

N9 + 5 or 6 digits 1999

Hi Linusand!

First of all: Welcome to the forum!

And second: Is it a topload or a string-through Tele you´ve got?

The reason for my question is that I´ve got one that looks a lot like your Tele, apart from mine having only one string tree and it´s black, but it´s a MIA Telecaster American Traditional and it has a topload six saddle bridge. I know for a fact that they also came in white, cause they had both colours in the music shop where I bought mine around 1999. I paid around 500 € for it then and it was my only Tele for a long time... And now there´s five of them...
