I recently bought the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Tele. This is the one released just recently and it is a great guitar. The craftsmanship is really great. The guitar was perfectly set-up and intonated at the factor, so I didn't have to mess with neck adjustments, nut height, or intonation. I really appreciate this.

What I normally do when the Squier guitars that I own is change out the pickups with something hand wound. The 50's Classic Vibe Squier Tele pickups were replaced with Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele pickups. This guitar now really sounds like an expensive 50's Tele.

I would like recommendations for replacement pickups for the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Tele. They need to represent and keep the 60's natural tone. I don't mind paying extra for hand wound because tone is king.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd check the Duncan 54 and Fender "62" pickup (you can find the 62 in www.guitarpartsresource.com or in Ebay - Angela Instruments, among other sellers, sells them brand new) - but these are not handwound.

Another interesting option is the Seymour Duncan Antiquity II, that is a handwound repro of the early 60's Tele pickup - if you like the Antiquity you alreadyhave, you should find more info about the Ant. II.

if you don't mindpaying and tone is king, go with some Kinman Broadcaster pups.

Hi Lago,

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't realize that the Antiquity II pickups were designed to sound like 60's pickups, where as the Antiquity I pup are designed to sound like50's.

The answer to the question is sitting right in front of me. I love the Antiquity I sound on my 50's Squier Classic Vibe Tele and at $89 each from most of the dealers, they won't break the bank.

Back in 2004 I purchased a Muddy Water Telecaster and I loved how thoses pick up sounded. There was a raw sound about them. I was the day the bridge pick up was ruined. I had it rewound, but it never sounded the same.
These are the picks ups:

2 American Vintage Tele Single-Coil Pickups (Neck/Bridge), with Special Staggered Alnico 5 Magnets in the Bridge Pickup

Good luck!
