I want to get one of the 3 pickup Teles from Fender. Especially opinions on the "Blackout Tele" I would like to know if they feel and play decently. I've got to have that tele pickup at the bridge. That's what makes a Tele a Tele. I have seen the Nashville Tele also. Thank you.

Thanks for responding. I suppose if I want to know about how a guitar plays: I should get myself to G.C. What I am most curious about is that maple neck on the "Blackout" and how it feels / responds.

It feels like ... a Tele neck :P

The only reason I didnt buy the Black is because it sounded like a one I have.

The Blackout was my first Fender tele. I've had it for a little over 2 years. I love the neck. It is nicely tinted but has little to no finish on it, so it is smooth. It is average sized, i.e. not chunky like the Baja. I like chunky necks, but the blackout still feels good to me. The neck is not overly thin. The pickups were okay, but I decided to switch to a twisted tele in the neck and Texas Specials in the middle and bridge. I'd highly recommend this guitar; it is very versatile and solidly built. I don't have any experience with the Nashville tele. If you have a tele you can tinker with, you could always add a middle pickup yourself. I did that with one of my Squier Affinity tells for "fun". Good luck.

I have a blackout tele. It has had a switch added that gives front/rear pickup option like a normal tele (The 5 way stock doesnt give you that) and all pickups on option both of which I like more than either of the 3 pickups solo unless I'm chicken picken then the bridge PU rules. Call it more strat like in tones but not overly so they are Telecaster wound pickups after all. The neck is slightly chunky IMO but I like it fine better than my G&L tribute legacy (Strat) neck. I'm also certain I have the only one around this town. They are not a common model.

I removed the little red tag on the microswitch it looks a lot better.[/img]

Pickup a Deluxe Blackout, you won't be sorry. It was my first ever guitar and I wish I had managed to keep it but the Hwy 1 was calling my name.

The only consideration is room. If you play hard, the middle pickup can sometimes get in the way -- not unlike a Strat's middle pickup. I'd say go ahead and grab the Blackout or the Deluxe Nashville. Both are good instruments.

I had the Nashville and Blackout Tele`s but I returned them to get a Hwy 1. The guitars themselves were great, I didn`t care for the necks. The fret wires seemed a bit rough along the edges and that turned me off to them but they sounded nice with the 3rd pickup.

LOL. I had the same option added to my Nashville Tele. My volume is now a push/pull to turn the bridge pickup on no matter where the pickup selector sits, so I can actually have all 3 pickups on at the same time.
