Greetings All,

Attempting to get info regarding this Telecaster.
# is T012410. Japan. However I havent seen example of this instrument aesthetically.

It has a cream body that is ivroid bound front and back with all gold hardware. The headstock is finished in cream also with the logo in gold inlay.

It's stunning to look at. Any ideas would be great. Thanks much.

Csapo,

Thanks so much for the info. It's truly appreciated. Next question is any idea how I should value it? Unfortunately current personal economic conditions necessitate our parting.

By the way.......your collection of gear is absolutely amazing and beautiful.

Best Regards

Thanks very much. It has been a labor of love.

I've seen average Ebay prices in the $500 to $700 range, depending on condition. Over the past 4 -5 years, they really haven't appreciated in value and there are usually a couple for sale, at any given time.

I sold mine recently (had to fund another purchase) for about $600, which was about my purchase price. Mine had really yellowed (aged) quite nicely but my wife laid down the law, "One out for one to come in".

Good luck with your sale.

A famous player...

Oh man you would have to do that. That really hurts. One of my favorite guitarists and absolutely my favorite band, with my Tele in his hand. I have not seen that.

It's actually a little nauseating but I'm running out of options.

Thanks again for the great info and the picture is worth the pain.

Best Regards,

I agree on the price. I see them on craigslist now and then in the $500 - $600 range.

These were sold in the US in the mid to late '90s as the "'90s Custom Telecaster". By now well-played ones will have a lot of the gold rubbed off the bridge, control plates, tuners, etc.

Sure are nice-looking Teles, though. Here's a scan of the Fall '97 Fender Frontline showing one in black.

Hey George,

Thanks for that. That's huge. I didn't know what to call it.

Take care

Glad to help. Can you read the description? It's kind of small but it has the specs. That scan might even help you show prospective buyers what you have. I could probably do a higher resolution scan if you need it - I scanned that a long time ago and you wouldn't believe how many questions I've been able to answer with that one page - here and elsewhere - because there are so many unusual and/or discontinued models on it.

Csapo collects Telecasters. I collect Frontline catalogs - it's a lot cheaper.

Yes I can read the description thank you. It's great information.

And you're not kidding on cost of collecting difference.

I cannot even imagine what Csapo' collection would value at. It's insane.

Again I really appreciate the help. It's killing me to sell this guitar. It was a gift from a good friend, but it's down to that for now. All the others that could go first have. I've got two special acoustic's left that will hopefully stay where they belong.

Best Regards my friend

Well the wife has lowered the boom on me and the new rule is "One must go out and then one can come it".

So one went out last week and this one just arrived...

(The black switch tip fell off and I put the white one on. Thinking of changing it back.)

I like the white tip with the white guard. Where do you get those white tips, anyway?

Hope you didn't pay too much for that one - it obviously hasn't been very well taken care of.

The acoustic-electric Telecaster shown on this 1997 Frontline ad reminds me two similar guitars (in sunburst and black) used by Steve Winwood during his recent reunion tours with Eric Clapton in 2007 and 2008.

Steve used the sunburst acoustic-electric Telecaster during the second Crossroads Guitar Festival held at the Toyota Park Centre of Chicago (IL) in July 28, 2007.

It appear's he playing the Clasical Thinline Model, which was actually originally supplied with Nylon strings. It is the only semi-acoustic Tele that I know of that has been designed for Nylon strings.

It would be interesting to hear if he's actually got nylon strings on that guitar - many people just put acoustic strings on them and they still sound great.
