Ever since seeing that Mojo video on YouTube I've been enamoured with the sound of this guitar.

Now I am new to this game and was wondering whether it would

a) be possible to get the mini HBs to sound like Knopfler's smooth warm '58 LP and/or

b) be possible to get the bridge pickup to distort like Jack White's Airline (if you use the whammy/muff stuff)

I know, quite different sounds..,

Thx

Hey TobiH.

Well, can't say that I am familiar with those exact guitars. What I can tell you is that the 52 Hotrod does not sound like an LP. The humbucker is actually a reissue of the model in the Gibson Firebird. That particular pickup is designed for a soft tone woods (ie Ash body). It sounds very nice but is different from an LP. However, being a humbucker, I do use it when playing songs that would normally be considered a "Les Paul" song. Which is cool because I find the normal Tele neck pickups funny sounding, and could never find a real use for them. The twang can be tamed by rolling off the highs using the tone knob. It's actually quite suitable for jazz.

The bridge pickup is all classic Tele with some extra hair on it. When Fender says Hotrod, it is most apparent with the bridge pickup. I've never heard an Airline so a comparison is difficult. However, if it doesn't sound like a standard Tele bridge pickup, it really won't sound like a Hotrod Tele bridge pickup.

Hope this helps.
