Hey Everyone!!
This is my first post here, I am new to the Tele Forum, I am usually posting on the Strat forums, but have just recently traded a 50th Anniversary Strat, not all original, had some upgrades, but also some dings and scuffs, but still a great guitar for a Custom Tele. Its a Highway 1 Body, set up like an Esquire with a single Lindy Fralin P-90 pickup in the bridge position. The electronics are set up really cool using the 3 way switch in a uniqe way and the tone knob is a chicken hean knob so you can see exactly whaere it is set. The neck is a 52 re-issue neck with a beautiful vintage tint to it. The only problem is the guy I got it from noticed that the decal was raised a bit, not flush like those of modern day, so he kinds just rubbed it right off the headstock. Being a builder and customiser of guitars, I told him thats the way they were supposed to be cause thats the way it was done in the 50's, not having the technology they have today. I am hoping that I can contact Fender and see what steps I have to take for them to possibly be able to re-decal it. I have never owned a Tele before, just about every other kind of guitar, and know the guy I got it from very well and have seen and heard it played live and was totally impressed by the sound and tone he got, so when he offered, I jumped all over it, plus I have 4 other Strats, so having a Tele was a great welcome to my collection. With the LF Pickup, I get no 60 cycle hum and get just a great tone out of it. I have a unique setup using both an all tube amp with foot pedals and a digital setup using a Line6 Podxt, switching the both using an A/B/Y box and it soounds AWSOME through both. I was going to sell it, but in 2 short days I have really had second thoughts and will now probablly sell 2 of my strats instead. Here is a picture of my new Tele, I may change the pickguard to a Pearloid, personal prefrence, but other than that, I think she's Perfect, all except the missing decal....

That is pretty darn cool. I would not worry about the decal. I always liked that color for the highway 1 telecasters. I almost bought a Highway One Texas Telecaster in that color when they first came out.

That should be a sweet guitar.

I like it.

Thanks Nevin,

It is a sweet guitar and I do Love it. I never thought I'd be a Tele guy til I got this one. I was selling the Strat I traded for it anyway, so I figured I would just sell this one, but after playing it for an hour or two, theres no way I am getting rid of this one. I will just Sell one of my other Strats to get into another build. I cant believe how great this guitar sounds. And yea, I really like the color also. A friend on mine got a Highway 1 Strat a while ago and I thought the color was just awsome, and now I have it, just in Tele Style, and I couldnt be more happy!!!

I completely agree.

One of the sweetest sounding guitars, and I have no regrets at all about trading in my strat.

I love the color of your guitar, and am tempted to go for something similar myself.

When I have learned to play something other than Stairway To Heaven that is! ;)

Beautiful! I wish I could listen to a couple samples of that bridge pickup!
By the way, I doubt Fender will give you a decal or suggest you to make your own...

Thanks!!!
I will try and get some mp3 samples up soon. I am talking to a guy at Fender now and actually looks like I can get a decal, its a process, I have to take it to the local Fender authorised dealer and submit pics for approval and then they send the decal to them for the dealer to put it on, which makes me a bit leary. I do Custom decals myself, being a builder and Customizer, but have not done a Vintage tint neck before. They are working with me quite well on this, I just think its gonna take a long while before I can get one. I can get a 52 Tele Decal from a few sites I know of and may have to just do it myself. I just wish I had a junky vintage tint neck to practice on before I do it for real, I dont wanna mess this one up, thats for sure!!!

Thanks bro, it sure does serve me well. I am building a custom box to go between the 5150 and the 2x12 to house the Pod and the Crate Powerblock I use for just the preamp for the pod. Painted black with airbrushed skull motif with a black light running along the bottom so it lights up like a 70's poster...remember those? Just an idea I came up with, handy and its gonna look pretty cool, I will post pics when I get it done, I have a few guitar projects going on right now, one being my first guitar under my own name/line.
