Don't be afraid to do it yourself, there's really nothing you can mess up. It's basically just screwing parts together, no big deal. Alittle soldering practice is something that can be useful. Although what can really be frustrating, is buying all these parts and coming to find out that some don't fit (bought the wrong part, wrong size etc.), it can be time consuming and a waste of money returning parts and stuff. Just make sure your buying the right stuff to begin with and your project should go real smooth.

You'll also feel more connected and satisfied with it after building it yourself.

Lol, of course it can be pulled off! There are TONS of sites that sell parts for teles for a nice price. My favorite is Guitar Parts Central. And there's a good book titled Building Electric Guitars (go figure!). So yes there are lots of resources for building guitars, so good luck! I'm working on a 62 Jazz bass style bass and it's a whole lot easier than it looks.

You can also buy kits to start off, but they cost more.
