$999 new at GC. I've seen used ones going for $800+
Finally found one on Craigslist close by for $650. I know-craigslist-you gotta be careful. But it's worth a look at least. He had pics posted and it looked legit. I'll post something if it pans out.

Right now guitar prices are really unstable and to be honest since the big price hike last year there are no set in stone prices on Fenders as they seem to change monthly. Lately you can get just about any artist series guitar that was $2,200 for $1,599= American Vintage 57s and 62s for $1,600 and drops on basically everything. A totally crazy time to buy a guitar so I would keep my eyes open as I would really be pissed to have bought a guitar and a few weeks later it is $600 cheaper.

Do let us know how the Craigslist venture turns out. Even if it is a legit guitar, it could be stolen. $650 almost sounds too good to be true (if it's in decent shape). Then again, these are desperate time, but I'd sell my girlfriend before letting my Tele go for that cheap.

I found three so far for $650 or less. I suppose the shipping would make up some of the difference, so I haven't done anything yet.

New Hampshire craigslist
San Diego craigslist
West Virginia craigslist

Yep-pricing still seems pretty unstable. Been shopping around Portland OR for a couple of months and $$ are all over the map--but so's condition. Also finding more mods and fewer stock instruments on the block. Maybe a testiment to the "desperate times"?

When I price gear for sale on Craig's list and it is in good condition I usually sell it for 50% of what I paid for it. So you get something used but working at a deal you can't get anywhere else..

This method works in the reverse. I will pay 50% of store pricing to get a guitar or amp in good working order. I deduct from that price if the item is blemished or needs work.

The people who buy a guitar for $800 new and then get hard up for money 6 months later are crazy if they think selling the guitar for $700 or $750 for there is a point where paying the extra few bucks for a new one makes sense.

When bargaining I explain my method and it seems to work. If the person really needs the cash they will usually go for it.
