I own a hwy one and was thinking of putting in a seymore duncan mini humbucker in the neck position. Anybody done this. Any thoughts or concerns.

I think that a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II Mini-Humbucker for the neck would sound good, maybe one for bridge too?

I purchased a 52 reissue hot rod about a year ago. The humbucker was truly sweet sounding, however, I missed out on the traditional tele sound. That humbucker is also found in the Gibson Firebird.

My only concern would be the neck routing on the hwy one...depending on whether its just for a single coil or if a humbucker would fit...unless you don't mind routing, but thats the only concern I would have depending on your skills and what tools you have available...

I have seen tele bodies routed quite often for either a mini humbucker or a Lowlar Charlie Christian. It isn't hard to do, but I would hire it out to someone who is comfortable with this type of work.

This is one of my favorite p/u combinations. And the body routing is not that tough. If you've got the skills to solder running a router is not that tough. Just take your time, outline the rout with masking tape for straight lines and make multiple passes, each one deeper to get the depth then cut closest to the tape line last. you can even find templates on ebay.
