I've owned a Fender American Standard Strat (Olympic White) for a few years, as well as an Epi Les Paul Goldtop and a Fender acoustic, and have been wanting a Tele now for some time. I honestly was leery of the Mexican made models but when one popped up on AMS as a 'scratch and dent' special for less than $380 I decided to roll the dice. Very happy I did. The guitar arrived with nary a mark on it, as is usual with the AMS 'S&D' sales, they are usually just buyer's remorse customer returns. All warranty cards, inspection cards, etc. all in place and intact. Gig bag, everything, was still pretty much new and unmarked.

The guitar is a candy apple red with white pick guard and maple finger board. It's a color I probably normally wouldn't have picked, but being it was the one availble for the special I went for it. Really glad I did. The color combo looks great on a Tele. The finish is beautiful. Everything is extremly well made and put together, and it sounded excellent plugged into my little Fender Frontman amp. Definitely has that distinct Tele sound.

I must say I am very, very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the quality of the MIM Tele. I'm mainly posting this so if anyone is on the fence with the same concerns I had about it not being MIA (and this is coming from somewhat of a MIA 'snob')...go for it. If your budget dictates you stay around $500 or so, you'd be hard pressed to find a better made guitar. Not a brand new one anyway. I doubt you'll be dissapointed.....it is a real Fender Telecaster, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

My son, who is more of a Gibson guy, had never given a Tele much thought but when I showed him this one last night I almost had to pry it back away from him. He was playing some Jack Johnson tunes on it and was like "Wow....this is the way it is supposed to sound, Dad!"

Now, not surprisingly, he wants one too!

BTW-I took some pics with my older digital camera and uploaded them to photobucket, but they came out so dark they are hardly worth posting. When I get home this evening I'll take a couple with my better camera and post them.

Sorry for the large size. Even still, the pics can't really capture how nice the finish really is.

See the shine...you can see the reflection of the cursive 'Fender' on the gig bag laying on the floor.

Welcome to the Forum and Teledom,I have an MIM Tele and couldn't be more pleased with it,whether I play it through a Vox or Marshall or Blues Jr. it sounds great.A Tele even sounds great through a cheap little 5W practice amp,no matter what you play it through the Tele tone shines through.
