Good morning!

In no particular order:

- Bending the strings
- High action
- Dead strings
- Overly aggressive strumming
- Capo not seated properly
- Poor intonation
- Bad frets
- Inferior fretting technique
- Gremlins

Maybe a bowing neck too... But my vote goes to Gremlins.

Position your capo as close to the fret as possible. Even right on top as long as it doesn't mute your strings you should be okay.

An electric guitar, light strings, high fret ect.,. doesn't need much presser to fret the stings. I had trouble with going sharp with a Kyser capo I had so bought a Shubb. WORKS GREAT as you can adjust the pressure (squeeze). That's the ticket !
Just a little bit works great.

I knew a country payer back in Des Moines Iowa that would use a capo on his Tele because he on knew 3 chords. He's have to move the capo up and down the neck to find the right key because he only knew those three chords (C-F-G)

Albert"The Iceman"Collins always used a capo on his Tele,my guess is that it's just not seating properly on the neck and consequently bending the strings and putting off the tuning.Maybe you should take your guitar with you to a store and try different capos, there is a big difference in capo performance and quality and not necessarily price dependent.
