The output of the neck pup seems low.
What is the resistance supposed to be on the neck?

The neck pickup will seem "dark" if you still have it wired for the vintage curcuit. If you install the modern wiring kit the neck pickup will come to life.

That's the way the 52 avri's come - dark curcuit in the neck pickup.

Yup, the 52 is wired with:

Neck pick-up without tone control

Neck pick-up with tone control

Bridge Pick-up

There isn't an option of both pick-ups together, you will have to change to the modern wiring which should have come with the guitar.

The reason this was done back in the day was to sometimes to substitute a bass before bass guitars became more popular.

I know about the vintage/modern wiring.

My '52 is wired in modern.

The output of the neck seems low. When you switch from the bridge to the middle you cant hear much difference.

I measured 2 other vintage pups I have. The resistance of the neck is over 7k, while bridge is less that 7k.

My tech againchecked my 52 . It turns out there is a noticeable "click". He double checked it & it appears that the switch is bum. That explains the low output on the neck pup.

YAY...I got my '52 back.

It sounds like a Tele should. The switch was replaced at no cost & wired modern.
