Congrats, that's a beautiful color combo, I love it.

Don't stop at just one... here's a list of some more of his guitars to add to your collection:

My brother is a huge U2 fan and likes pretty much Edge's delayed guitar solos.

Edge is much associated with the Gibson Explorer, though he favors Les Pauls as well.

Edge favored Eric Clapton's signature models in the mid-1990s. He had 3 EC Strats, one of which was a torino red model of 1989 (shown below), while the other two were finished in pewter and graffiti yellow. The pewter EC has snake and skeleton graphics on the body and the graffiti yellow has a black pickguard, matching pickup covers and plastic parts.

@chromeface:
Of course you are right he doesnt only use those two brands (Fender and Gibson). Nice pictures btw!!! And some cool links in this thread, fun to read!

But in the end he has soooooo many guitars, I think you need to ask yourself: "Which ones do stand out" or "which ones are 'connected' to the guitarist" from your personal point of view.

For me its currently those four:

This is why my collection looks now like this (the three current ones, and the new bought during this topic):

But well yes next thing I might head to is indeed a Gretsch or a Fernandes with sustainer kit.

But for the moment I am waiting for the Telecaster to arrive *sight* ^^

David "Edge" Evans is not only a fan of Explorers and Les Pauls. He also likes SGs (especially the cherry red 1966) and Epi Sheratons.

Sometimes "Edge" uses Fender "knock-off" copies made by Danvel & Nelson (shown below with a black Strat-style model)

Anyone here had a Fernandes (Retrorocket) with Sustainer already?
I wonder how it sounds different to a Fender Strat or Tele (when you turn of the sustainer).

Seems like a cheap buy, since the Fernandes Retrorocket Pro with built in sustainer comes for only 550 bucks. And at least The Edge playes my two favourite tracks with it, With Or Without You and Ultraviolet. So I am thinking of getting one eventually.

Anyone already had a Fernandes with Sustainer here?

Some Jacksons, Charvels and Hamers feature a Sustainiac infinite sustain driver, as shown on this Phil Collen PC-1 signature model below:

Hmm... but someone here had owned a Guitar with Sustainer (idealy the Fernandes Retrockrocket (which Edge uses too)) himself and can compare it against a Fender Strat?

I never seen a genuine Fender or Squier Strat with a Sustainer driver.

Fender currently offers the Sustainiac as an option on some Jackson and Charvel guitars. The annoying is that many superstrat-style models disappeared from the Hamer catalog after FMIC purchased Kaman in 2007. Fender should bring back the Chaparral and the Diablo.

Thats right of course. What I am heading to how both guitars compare when they are played in the clean mode, unsustained.

Since most in here were not aware of the vintage finish of the american standard tele I had contacted Fender to ask them about the color.
And they confirmed this was a standard color option years ago but has been discontinued somewhen later. But, so the guitar is really legit.
Looks like I've been really lucky.

The guitar had arrived in the meantime, it is in great and absolutely new condition :D . Right now it is still locked away from me since my
girlfriend added a few bucks to make it a birthday present.
But next week I am getting one week older (*sight* ^^), looking sooo much forward for the guitar now.

Here is the reply from Fender (which came quite fast, really good and friendly service).

Yes, that tele you're interested in, is the real deal, I have a 2006 vintage white american standard, in fact it's the 60th anniversary model (it has the 60th anniversary button on the back of the head stock), mine has the black pickguard, it came stock that way. The only thing I have changed is, I just installed a set of Fender deluxe locking tuners. And they work great.

I think the vintage white is a great color, I've been looking for a strat to match mine from the same year.
