It finally arrived, after playing a couple teles in store I knew the American Special was the one for me, but I definitely wanted the white one... well it just turned up :)

Congrats, Dan. I had the same American Special Tele buying urge a little over a week ago and also brought home an Olympic White one. It's a fantastic Tele for the money.

Gratz on this beautiful guitar!!!!

I am going to buy exactly the same guitar in 1-2 months probably. ^^

But I am going to replace the black pickguard with a white one and hope the Olympic White will soon start to get this beautiful vintage look with a more yellow and creamy tone ;-)

Waiting for more pics to come!

'Gratz. My love of this guitar is well documented in my extremely short time on this site already. Always glad to have another owner in the club. Hopefully you'll be as happy with it as I am. The Oly White is sharp too.

Sorry about no new pics, was playing it till 11 last night, the neighbors wouldn't have been happy :)

I must admit, after playing my strat non-stop for a year, I was hesitant about getting into the tele market just for it's lack of pickups (I use every position on my strat at somepoint in our sets to wrangle tones). I knew I wanted one, cause it was an EXTREME GAS situation, but I'm amazed at how versatile the tele is. Without too much playing around time in store, I thought it was 3 "similar" tones with just a change in brightness. WOW how wrong was I! Blues/ bell like tones from the front pos, shimmery chord voicings from the middle position and this biting, but not piercing, twang tone from the back pos. Absolutely amazing.

With my mates Tele copy, that back pos is just a nails down the blackboard sort of "Grab the tone knob and turn it to half". Not with this one, it's a ferocious, sustaining, thicker than expected tone that when you back off on the attack gives you that tele twang. Fantastic.

Yeah sushbone, the model that turned up is actually alot creamier than I thought. I think that vintage yellowing is going to come in faster than I expected :p but I'll definitely be keeping that black pickguard on there for now :)

Got the exact same model! It's my new number 1 axe. It looks like you scored a nice American Standard case to go with it (I only got a cheap generic case for mine.... )

I bought the flight case with it because it was getting shipped to the music store from the states. And thank god I did, I'll show you how the luggage handlers CRACKED THE CASE ON THE CORNER mid flight. I can only think what would have happened to this instrument if it was still in that deluxe gigbag.

Thanks for your comments guys :)

Congrats! I love the color too and I'm normally not a big fan of white -- but you picked a terrific one!

I've got a good friend who is a phenomenal guitarist and pretty much plays Teles exclusively.

He's got a vast collection of them and recently picked up the exact same model as yours.

Although he's got much more expensive models, he says the American Special has become his "go to" guitar.

Congrats, and enjoy it.
