I own that guitar and also love it. I have the natural finish and it's beautiful. I also love the tone.

I find that neck to be a little harder to play than my strats, but that's ok. Guess I'm just used to the strat C necks. It came with 9 gauge strings, but now I have 10 gauge strings on it. Gives it a little deeper tone than it already has.

Here's a nice blend: a Tele Thinline fused together with a Tele Deluxe. WOW!

I own one of Guitar Center's Fender Special Run '72 Thinline Reissues in 2 Color Sunburst and it's one of my favorite guitars. I love the Thinline's light weight and the thicker, mellower tones from the pickups. She's a looker, too.

The Natural finish also looks great but the Sunburst called to me a little louder. :)

I also have one.

I'm soon going to have the 250k pots replaced with 500k's for a little clearer sound.

The Classic Player Thinline Deluxe is also very tempting!

I have a 72 (natural) and a 69 (Lake Placid Blue) and they're both a lot of fun to play. A bit different sound than the rest of the collection and with the mellow tunes I usually play, I have several friends who say the 72 sounds best out of all the guitars I have.

Not that it matters though because the music store in question has done right by you, but if you don't mind me asking, what was the serious issue?

Sorry to hear about your problem with the first Thinline but I'm glad you got it sorted out with the switch to the Natural. That's one sweet looking guitar.

I like the natural look so much that I went that route with my '69 Thinline. :)

it had a bad ground and wasn't properly shielded and when i took the little plastic cover off the scratch plate it left a nasty stick residue

I'm a jazz player and I love fender. So when I saw the 2 tone sunburst beauty I had to get it. I hear alot about people changing the pots. If anyone here decides to do this can you make a before and after recording for comparisons?

I bought my Thinline (natural finish) in 1994 or 1995, back when all the resissues were coming from Japan. I've had a lot of offers on it, but I've never had any interest in parting with it. It hangs on the wall in my music room with my other Teles and Strats. I've never taken it out gigging, so it's still as pristine as when I first got it. I play it once or twice a week and I've used it on recordings several times.

mine has some grounding/shielding issues as well. I hope to have that fixed when I get the pots changed.
