I just got a '52 Reissue Tele this weekend. I photographed some banjos from the 1880s for a client and he paid me with the tele. COOL. This could easily become my favorite guitar! Photos to come soon! :D

Here is an image I made today of my Tele and an original 1963 Ampeg Jet J-12

Hey Guys... so I posted the pic of my 52 RI Tele with the ampeg amp a few weeks ago. I'm new to the telecaster world and was wondering about the "original" wiring versus the "modern" I got my tele second hand so it only has the electronics that are in it and not the other kit that was supposed to be included. From what I can tell, the switch in the all the back back position gives me the bridge pickup with tone control, then in the middle position it gives me the neck pickup with tone control, the problem comes in that in the forward position there is no change from the middle position. Still sounds like the neck pickup and I still have tone control. Identical to the middle position. It is a 2007 model and to my knowledge has not been worked on. The diagram I downloaded from the fender site said that the forward position should be the neck pickup with NO tone control. Thoughts or suggestions appreciated!

Thanks everybody.

Its not her guitar, it was mine. Shes only 2, but I know she likes it so I am gonna go back for it and if she decides to take up playing guitar when she's older, she can have any guitar of mine she wants.[/quote]

My two year old niece has laid claim to one of my Tele's, she wrapped her arms around it and said " mine " She will sit for any length of time, as long as she can plunk away at it. I'm going to encourage her all the way, and told her the red Tele is hers. Encourage your wee girl too OP.

MAN I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!!! I traded an Epiphone Casino VS, a Limited Edition Epiphone LP Jr. 57' issue in TV Yellow with a setneck, and an Epiphone faded SG 400 for this Fender American Vintage 52' reissue butterscotch blonde Telecaster.

I am going back on Monday to buy the SG back because it is my daughter's favorite guitar that I have. The guy was really nice about it and said I could buy it for $150. I think that's fair.

Sounds like a great deal!!
You traded some hatchets for an axe!!!

That will fix it. :)

I just bought a '52 Reissue this week and haven't changed anything yet.

There is one more tone you can get with the '52. The 3 way switch works like the 3 way on Vintage Strats and lodging the switch halfway between the bridge and neck positions produces the classic middle position tone of later Teles. That's my favorite Tele clean tone and I'm glad it's there with no mods needed. 8)
