I have both. I prefer the Baja to the HWY 1 just slightly. I really like the pickups in the Baja and the S-1 switch. I know a lot of people don't really care for the S-1 switch, but I like all the tonal options that you get with it. The HWY 1 is nice as well and would probably work well for rock and blues. I play blues and it sounds nice. The jumbo frets just take some getting used to. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I would also recommend the Jim Adkins JA-90 telecaster; I just got this one and love it.

I own a HWY 1 and it is my go to guitar ( I also own an Am Std Strat). The HWY 1 bridge pickup really handles hi gain well, and avoids being muddy or "ice picky." The grease bucket tone pot allows you to roll off some of the brightness (if you need to), without loosing the low punch.

The nito thin finish is also something to consider, It is a mat finish that eventually turns shiny where your hands/arms touch it. Mine is less than a year old and is already showing signs of significant wear - but I like that.

Bottom line, I'd buy this guitar again and again if it got stolen.

Flip a coin, they are both nice guitars. Either will do what you want it to do very well. It all comes down to which one you LIKE better.

Highway One Tele gets my vote on this (AND I AM DAMN BIASED because I own one).

GregWV says it all, but ya, it is easy to maintain, compared to the Baja Tele (although it has the S1 switch which u prolly might find useful for blues music) but at the end of the day, it dun get brittle in picking or playing when you drive it and it doesn't lose that original twang flavour (which most people seek in a Tele). To top it off, I find the Greasebucket tone circuit to be extremely powerful in handling bluesy rockish stuffs.

Then again, I have not yet tried to Classic Player Tele so I shall reserve some comments first.

Excellent point...I love the fact that I'm getting a road worn look on my HWY1. LOVE THE HWY 1!

My Honey blonde is starting to wear through on the underside and the armrest area. I accidentally bumped it taking it off the stand the other day and put a nice looking ding on it which added some character. Looks like a Custom Shop style ding.

I say go for the Highway 1. One of the best guitars Fender has put out in the past few years.
