I had an American Standard Stratocaster that I bought a couple months ago. I loved it except for a couple of things.

1. The floating bridge and tremolo. Just could not put up with the hassle of the floating bridge (tuning, bending notes, etc...), and if I set the bridge flush, it changed the tone (to the negative IMO).

2. The position of the switch and knobs. When I strum, I would hit the switch and knock it into a different position, and if I strum closer to the bridge, the knobs are in the way.

Anyway, I decided to use the Strat and my Fishman SoloAmp as a trade in for an American Standard Telecaster. I know that they only give you about half of the going price on trade in's, and I was prepared to make that sacrifice because I really did not have any cash and I really wanted a Telecaster.

I went to my local GC and spoke with one of the guys I know and he said he would be able to do a straight up trade for the American Standard Tele for the Strat and the SoloAmp. I saw and American Deluxe Telecaster but the price was $1,749.00 (almost twice as much as the American Standard Telecaster). I noticed on the GC website that they had American Deluxe Tele's for $1,049.00 but they where blemished ones. He then did a web search and found a web site that sold them for $1,049.00 and said he could price match it.

Ended up to be an almost even trade. I had to pay $100.00, and that included tax and everything. So, I still had to take a little bit of a bath, but not as big as I was prepared to take in the first place, and I have certainly have taken bigger baths in the past...:)

This guitar is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Here are some pics...

Well, from your comments about not liking the Strat's floating bridge and the tone knobs getting in the way, I would say you are a Tele guy through and through. :)

I have an American Deluxe just like yours and it is an immaculate sounding and playing guitar. It's also a looker. Congrats and enjoy!

John
