Hi all. I own a USA made standard Strat (an '04 Olympic white), an Epi Gold Top Les Paul, and Fender dreadnaught body acoustic/elect. But I don't own or know a whole lot about a Telecaster. My stepson (who is a more accomplished player than me and plays in a band) is wanting a Tele (he now plays a Gibson SG) so I want to surprise him with one. I've already decided to get him a USA model and not a MIM model....just on the fence as to which one I want to get him.

Comparing just the Standard, the American Special (?), and the Highway 1. I'm sure any of them would be fine guitars, but really like the head logo and 'Made in USA' just under the cursive 'Fender" on the standard. I can't tell if the other two models have the same logo or not....as I'm sure the stock photos change, and may not even be the correct models, etc. Does anybody know if this is the case?

May seem like a miniscule detail, but I want this on the head of the guitar I get him.

Also, are all the USA models manufactured at the Corona plant? I know my Strat has the 'Corona, CA' chrome plate on the back of it which is nice. Do all the Tele's made in USA have the same?

Sorry if they seem silly questions...especially for my first post, but they are small details that I'm pretty sure will help the guitar appreciate in value over time, and I'm willing to pay the extra for it I have to go with the American Standard Tele over the other two models.

Thanks in advance.

My suggestion when looking to buy a new guitar is to find a store with a large selection and play as many as possible, one after another , through the same amp and listen for the sound/tone that jumps out at you when you play it.

For a Fender, if you are concerned with future value, I would stick to American made and the best sticker to have on the head is on the back of the head and it is a V with the words "Fender Custom Shop", whether it is new or used.
