My teles sound great through my amps, but right now the best sound is a mix of the Bandmaster and the Dr. Z Mini Z - 6L6 Fender Clean and Tremolo mixed with dirty EL84 crunch - a match made in heaven when played through an ABY switch.

For my own simplistic reply. I have owned nine teles over thirty years and have just acquired the ninth one because I can not be without one. . .
A tele is a tele and must be played as such. Many or most strat or Les Paul players want nothing to do with a telecaster. The reason for this is that a tele puts out exactly what you put into it. If you take your time and learn it's strengths it will sing for all the world like the world class voice it is and has. If not you can fall on your face with a tele easier than any other guitar ever made.
Though I own an LP, an American Strat, and a few other guitars and play each according to what it is, it is when my tele is singing in that particularly beautiful tone it has that I feel most fulfilled.

A friend of mine told me teles were too one dimensional for him. Perhaps it was him that was one dimensional and trying to get the whatever other dimensions a Les or Strat can get through any overdrive if you push it hard enough was too much work for him.

You don't sit down with a tele and sound wonderful at the first moment. You have to learn to pet her and make her sing and whine for you. That, when you accomplish it, you can do like no other guitar maded.
Any amp and a true tele lover can make beautiful music.

Just my opinion, but it surely does seem to fit.

Have to agree with the Mustang amps and teles. I have a Mustang 3 and the M3 makes my 88 Tele sound fine. Also my Egnater Rebel 30, 59 Champ, 38 Wabash, and others seem to sing with it!

ALL OF 'EM.

I got a huge collection of guitars from a '42 Epi archtop to a PRS singlecut. But my tele is the best ....... I also have a wide selection of amps and the tele sounds great through all of them. (inc a Laney Pro linebacker 100 Bass head into a 4 x 12 Fane loaded box) But for sheer versatility and enjoyment......

'92 Telecaster Nashville thru' a Fender Mustang 4.
