Right, so I'm having an issue with my jack socket, and i know the problem and i just need to get at it and bend the contact inwards so it touches the lead.
The issue is I don't know how to get at the jack, so what i would like to know is, how do i get the cup out?
Thanks in advance.

Loosen the nut around the jack. Push the jack up into the body. Remove the screws that hold the control plate (where your volume and tone knobs are) and gently set that on top of the guitar. You should be able to reach in and pull the jack out to where you can get at it.

Rather than bending the jack inward to better mate with the lead (guitar cable to us Americans), consider this upgrade:

Remove the cup. You will be left with a rectangular piece of thin metal that has a hole in the center through which the jack used to go.

The corners of this metal rectangle will be pressed into the sides of the wood. You can use this tool to remove and reinstall it:

Don't buy that tool unless you want to keep a vintage Tele jack intact for originality. Actually, if you just want to bend your current jack, you don't need to do anything to the retainer clip at all. But I recommend ripping it out with a pair of pliers and throwing it in the trash. Throw away the cup too.

Buy an Electrosocket jack mount here:

and a Switchcraft 4652 Mono jack here:

http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/product/4652

Do this and you won't have to mess with the jack on that Tele for the rest of your life. :D

I changed my previous post a bit to make it more clear, I hope.

You can bend your current jack if you wish and push it back into the retaining clip and then reinstall the cup and nut to hold the jack in place.

It will loosen up over time, however. That's why I recommend the upgrade to an Electrosocket and Switchcraft jack. It's a very common Tele mod.
