Hi all,

I usually post in the Strat section, but I'm considering getting a MIM '72 Classic Tele Deluxe, and wanted to hear people's opinions of them. I've read some reviews where people griped about having to change the pots, etc - what are the pros and cons of these guitars?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey there, I play a MIM 72 Custom from the Classic Series as my main guitar and I love it and adore it. It is a workhorse and is built amazingly. I'm a pro btw and I need something reliable and I swear by the Custom, any Deluxe I have played is the same.

The pot change isn't a gripe, it just simply makes the Wide Range Humbucker sound a lot better but it's still very nice with the 250k although I recommend changing them to 500k on the volume's only. It really does make a world of difference and isn't expensive at all.

Strongly recommend this guitar! Many pro's swear by the Deluxe and Custom, I see them on T.V. more than most here in the U.K.

Happy hunting!

C

Thank you kindly, CC! :)

I've got my eye on one - I think it's got the (now discontinued) ash body, as the finish is completely clear, and there's no example of that model in that finish on the current Fender site. It's a decent price, and I really like the sound of the wide range pups. The neck is comfy, also.

Many thanks for that - I think I'll go for it!

Hello, i need just one information. What is the allen wrench size for tele deluxe 72? (for neck adjustment).
Thanx

BTW, this guitar rules. Changing pots to 500k is best option for little more boost of signal, but still, this guitar is great in every way

the minor problem with my reissue 72 thinline is the frets, they're not phat enough, when I bend on a high note it seems to flatten out & another thing I bought the thinline drunk as a sunk & after I sobered up didn't realize that the 22nd fret was missing, other then that I love it

I just got one today and I really like her. The pickups are a little thin but they bridge the gap between a Strat and a Les Paul. Mine sounds so good on my tube amp. Much better than on the solid state in the store. I like her a lot.

According to the set-up section on this site it's 1/8". It aslo describes loosening the neck screws a minimum of 4 turns and I believe it states that a quarter turn equals 1/32" on the micro-tilt.

72 Tele Deluxe is like Josh Farro's old Telecaster.

I love my '72 Tele Deluxe (2006 60th-anniversary special edition).

The previous owner had installed 500K pots. I've had it since September 2009, and it quickly became my number-one guitar. Go for it! 8)

I had to settle for the walnut Deluxe because I don't look good in red jeans.

Thanks! :D

I went to a guitar show last September, hoping to find a Tele Deluxe in the "root beer" color. Then this Olympic White vixen called to me from across the room. A few strums and a quick trip to the ATM later, I left there, giddy as a schoolgirl. 8)
