I heard a lot of stuff like "one-piece body" or "two piece body" to describe the number of chunks of wood to make up a guitar body. I've heard one-piece is rare and expensive. Now, I just got an AS Tele in Crimson Red Transparent and I can't see any joint lines anywhere on it. I can follow grain lines from the back all the way to the front so it would appear to me that the body is one piece of wood. So, do I have a one-piece body or is there some other way they cover it up?

You'll need to post a pic and a little more info on the guitar. Some Fender guitars have a laminated top that appear to be one piece. It's also possible the body is not original if you bought it used. One piece bodies are quite rare.

Look at the end of the body.

Yes and Alder is typically harder to detect than Ash because of a tighter and less noticeable grain. If memory serves I believe Crimson Red Transparent is one of the few transparent colors they used on Alder bodies.

Crimson Red Transparent is Ash on the American Standards. From the specs on this site:

Ash on:
(703)** 2-Color Sunburst, **add $100.00 for Special Wood Requirements,
(721)** Natural, **add $100.00 for Special Wood Requirements,
(738)** Crimson Red Transparent, **add $100.00 for Special Wood Requirements

The body is original since the guitar came right to me brand new still in the box. I'm not claiming it is a one-piece, I'm just not sure how to identify one.

SWEET !!

Another place to look is down the neck towards the bouts areas.

Being it's an American, it may be only a two piece.

This is a Std MIM Ash Tele (FSR)

Look right of the strap button.

Very nice Tele.

I think the 2 pieces mark is where we see some "V" on the back side, in line with the knobs

I don't think those "V" could be find on on piece of wood

You could be right. They did a nice job of matching up the grain then - obviously cut from the same block of wood.

If that guitar isn't one piece it's the most flawless job of matching I've seen and the worker who did it belongs in the Custom Shop. Stunning guitar.

My 200 AD Tele is Trans Crimson and it's Alder so I guess they used it on both woods.

A very nice job indeed. I could not tell you from the pics as it does look like a one piece from them. But I have a guitar that has matching knots in the wood on opposite sides of the neck pup that line up perfect and the only way you could tell it is a two piece is in person. I guess someone came to work that day very happy. Either way love the finish on that ax as the grain looks great with the red.
