Hi there!

i just bought a Tele off of ebay (I can hear some of you groan already) and Im unsure about how authentic it is. It was sold to me as a 1978 Telecaster and the serial number checks out fine. The only problem is that it seems to clean in some places and some things just dont add up.

I've taken it apart and had a little look about, but my knowledge doesnt stretch that far. Does anyone have any onfo on a "G. Garcia"? and "FF20" or "FFR20" (should have made a note or written this before I put it back together). The neck itself is very clean and the frets look brand new, though this could of course be due to a refret.

Either way its a lovely playing and sounding guitar, but would just like to know if i got my moneys worth or if I have to go kick up a fuss.

Any info would be much appreciated

Thanks

While someone maybe be able to help you out here, you may also want to post over at TDPRI.com , as that is a huge Telecaster forum, with many people knowledgeable on there that know a few things about dating the older Telecasters...

Thats why I don't buy vintage...too many people out there trying to rip people off and its hard to verify that it is what it is sometimes...there's at least one inquiry here every week, or every other week, from people wanting to know if what they bought is legit...Sorry rambled on a bit...I'm kind of on the Roy Buchanon frame of mind in vintage is alright, but much of the new stuff out there is just as good or better....

If it plays good and sounds good then it is good. Have fun with it.
