Hey all, I've been thinking of switching around my control plate on my Tele to have it go Volume, tone then selector, as in the Squier Vintage Modified Tele. I was just wondering, would I be able to simply move the pots and switch around the plate, or would some extra wiring or work be needed? I want to do this mostly for looks, but I have once or twice hit the switch while playing, but its mostly an impractical mod.
Any advice would be great, thanks.

Maybe rewiring is needed.

let someone else do it. Believe me if you're this unsure about it you need to get it done by a professional or a close friend who does this kind of thing before you end up doing something you regret.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I ended up checking it out on the weekend, it doesn't look like it will be too hard. I have done a wiring harness before on my parts bass, I just wanted to be prepared before I dove in. To make the switch work, I need to extend the wire from the volume pot to the switch, but it will fit if you want the switch to be backwards. The other problem is the the volume pot has the ground wires sticking out of the side, but they can be re-soldered to fit.
So I may do it myself, but my schedule is pretty full. So I may just leave it and get it done when I get my guitar tech to install a humbucker in the neck. I'm thinking of a Burstbucker 2 in the neck, even though they are super expensive. But after trying out a few guitars with various pickups, and the fact that I'm not able to try out the cheaper pickups before buying, I think the extra money will be worth it in the long run.
So thanks for the help, once its done I'll post up some picks.
Boyko.

I had a tech switch one of my AV'62RI's and it was not too expensive.

It does take a bit of time to get used to the new positioning.

Check out the red baby...
