Check eBay for pics. There are sellers there who take apart brand new Fenders and sell the parts. I learn a lot about what's "under the hood" on Fender guitars and basses that way.

Go to eBay.com and then Musical Instruments / Guitar / Parts & Accessories / Guitar Parts / Bodies. That's not a link, just where to click if you start at the main page.

Then seach for Tele*, which should return all ads with Tele or Telecaster.

Here's a link to probably the biggest seller of Fender parts. I have no affiliation with this seller and am not trying to promote his business.

Here's a picture of the routing for the MIM '50s Classic Esquire and Telecaster. You can see it's routed for a single coil in the neck position.

By comparison, here's a MIM Standard Telecaster body, routed for a humbucker in the neck position:

And, just for fun, here's a MIM Nashville Telecaster with the "swimming pool" rout for a Tele neck pickup and a Strat middle pickup...

Hi guys, i'm chiming in here to say that i for one really appreciate how all of you are so willing to share the wealth when questions like this one arise. The knowledge that can be found here provided by those of you who really know your stuff as they say is truly amazing, and it really is great to get such a educational look at some of The fender guitars history. Thanks so very much guys! :D

I concur, well put Dave.
