Just bought a MIM Tele. Discarded the factory strings & replaced them with Fender Nickel-Plated Super Bullets (.009-.042). Any string recommendations? I play rock, blues and a little country.

I use D'Addario XLs and have for years they stay in tune after vigorous bends and stay bright longer.I use 8-38s as I do very deep bends but string gauge is of course personal preference.I tried many brands before settling on D'Addarios but they came out on top.

I used Ernie Balls. Regular Slinkys as I've set mine up for 10s though. Loved them until I discovered Elixir Nanoweb Coated strings. That said I'm still currently using a set of Ernie Balls as the Elixirs can be a bit hard to get for me.

Don't be afraid to try different brands until you find the ones YOU like the most. DR are also very good and Dean Markley Blue Steels are another one worth trying out. A lot of people swear by D'Addarios but I personally don't like them. Just one of those things...

I'm an Ernie Ball Super and Regular Slinky fan although I like DR Tite Fits and D'Addario XLs, too.

D'Addario's for about 20 years cause they rock till the cows come home...started using the 8s, then 9s, but for the past 10 years or so, 11-49s...

I have used Daddario's the last 15 years and before that I used Fenders. As long as it is a quality brand you cant go wrong. I would defy the best ears in the world to have 5 guitars strung with a different brand on each and outside of saying if they are a heavier or lighter set be able to identify the companies.

I agree it'd be almost impossible to hear the difference in strings sets other than if the gauge differs. For me it's about how they feel when I play that determines if I like them or not.

I like D'addarios and Dunlop (10-46) strings. Very same feel to me, but Dunlops seem to last a little longer.. but maybe it's just my imagination

I'm not fond of D'addarios. Had some frustrating experiences with them many years ago and haven't tried them again since. You get one chance to make a good first impression.

I prefer traditional nickel wound strings to steel wound strings like the Fender 250's. The steel has a different sound that grates on me. I've used Markleys and liked them. I've used GHS and liked them. I've also tried stainless steel wound strings (Fender 350's) and they have a unique sound all their own. Didn't like them on the Strat but they were an interesting change on the Tele.

For the past 10 years or so I've been using either Fender 150's (10-46) or Gibson Vintage Nickel (10-46) on all of my electric guitars and Elixer Nanowebs (11-52) on my acoustics. Tried Elixers on one of my Strats once and came away feeling nothing was different.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I use 10's on my Telecasters and Les Paul's and 9's on my Stratocasters , seems to be the best for me, blues, rock.
