I`m torn between a Highway 1 (MIA) and the Nashville Tele (MIM). Just wondering if the HWY 1 has more of that " Country Music " sound than the Nashville Tele. I just got the Nashville but can return it and upgrade because I`m within 30 days of purchase and the cost to upgrade would not be that much. Any input would be appreciated...

What color and type of neck did you get..and how do you like it now you've had it a couple of days?

JAk....I got it in the 3 color sunburst and each time I play it I like it more and more. The pick ups give me the tone I was looking for. I had 3 other Teles and sold them all. I got the Hwy 1 and I love it. I got it with the Maple neck because I just like the way it looks better than the Rosewood. How about yourself...do you like yours ?

Yeah I really do. I like it more everytime I pick it up. Mine is identical to yours. One thing I experienced you may want to be wary of is the stand you get. Be sure it's nitro friendly. Before I knew it my wife came home with a stand she got at Wal-Mart and it rubbed off about a 3/4 of an inch spot in the bottom edge. I since got a nice stand. this one http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=421127

Thanks for that info on the stand. I`m using one by " Ultimate Support ". The guitar hangs on it like a wall hanger but the bottom of the guitar rests up against a foam rubber sleeve. I`ll keep that in mind about the finish though...I`m going to take a picture of the stand then the guitar and post them both. Have you considered buffing the finish to a low gloss ? I see some people doing that and was wondering if thats a wise thing to do.

I use GHS guitar gloss and it looks good and protects the finish and doesn't effect the sound....not really (as Shinny) like some poly finish but it's cheap and easy and looks good and shiny. Other than that rub job from my wife's stand I don't have a scratch on it and it looks shinnier as time passes. Of course I wipe it down with a polishing cloth most days and put some polish about once a month when I change strings. I hear alot of bad raps about the Nitro finish. But as you probably already know before the poly coat finishes about all wooden instruments were done in nitro laquer finishes.

Good choice...may be a collector's item soon!

Aren't they being discontinued in favor of the American Specials?

I`m getting use to the nitro finish, I don`t want to try to buff it up and do damage in the process. I figure Fender did that for a reason so I can live with that. I`ve been using Meguiars polish..its works well on my other guitars and cleans this one up pretty good too.

Is that right ?...I`m glad I got it just for the fact that I like the pups in this guitar better than the other 3 Teles I had. If its being discontinued you might be right about them going on the wanted list in the future.
