Hello :) . I'm new and it's my first post. I want to write about something Fender should reissue, i think....A Fender '70s Telecaster standard.

I like the 1970s rock music...punk, new wave, glam, etc. And i like the black CBS logo design of the late 60s and the entire 70s, i'm thinking to buy a 1966 Jaguar reissue by Fender Japan (inspired by Rowland S. Howard). But i read interest in 70s instruments, i think it's by the music, but i didn't read anything about the 70s standard tele. I think it should be reissue....or is it similar to a 60s tele :? (i was thinking to buy a Classic Series 60s)?. A 1972 tele custom std and custom deluxe, 1970's Jazz Bass, 1970's strat guitar are reissued by both USA and Mexico factories, while Fender Japan is reissuing a 1970s P Bass. But what happenned with the 1970s tele :?:

Because...i'm fan of 70s rock. 8)

Image Joe Strummer with a, i think, a 1970's standard tele, with the normal sesign (not custom) and the classic and cool black CBS Fender logo.

I have to say I agree. I love he 70s logos. Strummer,s tele was a 60s tele though. I remembered hugh cornwell and jj burnell from The Stranglers using a 70s tele and p-bass sooooooo cool[/img]

Welcome Franz!

I think Fender won't reissue the post-1972 Tele because it had a funky body shape, as this picture shows, take a look at the upper "horn"...

They are neither that desirable enough nor had any cool particularity to make it worth being a reissue.

There is or there was a "Custom Shop 67 reissue" that is pretty much like it, except for the 3-bolts neck plate and the body shape.

The 60's Classic would be close, but with the original body shape style (much much better IMO) and the rosewood fingerboard (neck shapes are probably different, I believe 70's Teles had U necks), if you want a maple board, go with the 50's Classic.

Joe's Tele was a 60's something

by the way, I just remembered that Fender Japan makes a 70's Tele, minus funky upper "horn"...

I think it's a good idea. The 70's Fender are known to be of lower quality, but I believe the most beautiful. Think about the Custom or the Deluxe... The 3-bolt neck is awesome (the neck-angle adjusting)... Yes, more 70's reissues.

The Tele Custom, the Deluxe and 72 Thinline, which have their own particularities, have already been reissued and there are some really nice variations of them, like the Thinline Deluxe and the Deluxe Black Dove 8)

I didn't think about a great support, but if it is making you happy....Fender should reissue late 60's-70's Tele standard.

The Joe Strummer pic is showing him using a Fender Tele with the black CBS logo and with maple fretboard, despite his classic Tele was that (pre-CBS?) 60's tele. Here's another picture of a likely 70's tele user, Alan Gill, english guitarist of Teardrop Explodes and guitarist/singer of synthpop band Dalek I Love You. I'm sure despite the shadow of the place where the photo was taken, the logo and its position are recognizables.
