I have what I believe to be an American made Tele. The date is "Oct 2000" is the neck and body stamp under the neck mount. This guitar is configured as a Nashville, it looks like a Nashville. The neck has a made in USA on it. The serial number is American but I can not find anything that tells me that they actually made an American Nashville Telecaster in the early 2000. If I send Fender the serial number can they tell me definitively what it was originally? Its a ZO144** number.

Thanks for any info.

I saw a MIM Nashville Tele on ebay advertised as a 1999 so I would say its safe to say yes, they made them in 2000.

Yeah the Mexicans are everywhere. What I am speaking of is Nashville that was made in America. I can't find another one to compare to which has me a bit suspicious of its origin. I am looking to collect some nice american made guitars and before I make the trade for this one I am trying to make sure its authentic and original.

Thanks

I may have posted my answer wrong. I meant that if they made MIM Nashville Teles in `99, they must have made them MIA in 2000. Try using Fender`s customer service, they might be able to tell you of its origin.

Well, now they only make one type of American Nashville, and that's the B-Bender, which isn't solely a Nashville from what I can tell.

If they had American Nashvilles other than the B-Bender, I'd totally get one. I don't really get the concept of the B-Bender. Really, though, I've never played one, let alone seen one without the aid of a magazine or website.

I bet you have a 3-pickup American Deluxe Tele.

Questions:

Does it have a bound body with a tummy cut in back?
Does it have a mini-switch between the volume and tone controls?
Does it have abalone fingerboard inlays and a chrome-like Fender decal on the headstock?
Does it have a six-saddle bridge with block saddles and offset intonation screws?
Does it have 22 frets?
Do the pickups have a "Noiseless" logo on them?
Can you post a picture online somewhere, like www.photobucket.com (free) so we can see it and make a positive ID for you?

I had a guy at one of the big repair and swap shops tell me after a lot of pictures and a bit of research that it was an american made nashville.

Serial number is a ZO144***

It does not have the locking tuners or D designator for a deluxe.

Yeah, that's obviously not an American Deluxe. Looks like an American Standard with a middle pickup.

I like it!

Great pics - thanks.

For some reason, I thought that all of the Am Deluxe models had the headstock decal like this one :

I think a Deluxe would have a DZ serial number, not a D. I am thinking what happened is someone took a standard or somethign with a 3 pickup mount and dropped a Nashville pickguard in it with the proper pickup set. I guess, who knows? I am going to send a serial nuber to customer support and see if they can tell me what I have here.

I think you're right. There's no question in my mind that that's a genine Fender body and perhaps the American Series / American Standards came routed that way for a time. That would make it easy to install another pickup and a 5-way switch.

Speaking of switches, you might look under the control panel and check the soldering and wiring. Does it look like an amateur job? If so, that might indicate a previous owner made it a Nashville.

I looked in a few old (Fall '99 through 2004) Fronline magazines last night and didn't see this model. They showed a Fat Tele (or HS Tele) and the Nashville B-Bender tele under "Hot Rodded American Series" but not the exact guitar you have in any of them.

Thanks George,

I am trading a '74 Bassman 100 for this guitar and I am just a bit concerned about its authenticity and what its true value maybe. I suppose its worth more to someone looking for a Nashville Tele but they would have to want an american guitar, otherwise I'd only get mexican competition on a sale.

I got the Scoup, directly from the fender consumer relations rep.

"This was not a Nashville, but we route our entire American standard Teles like this and sadly it is not a custom order but an after market mod.

The model is an American series tele in white blonde.

Take care,

Consumer Relations
Fender Musical Instruments"

So there you have it. Someone bought the parts and set it up.

If you want a USA made "Nashville" Tele, then you should look for either a 1997 Tele Plus or a 1998 Tele Deluxe.

Here's a 1997 Tele Plus...
