I bought a new JB MIM tele standard last week. I really like the feel of it and how it plays, however, the bridge pickup is microphonic. No problems because it's under warranty and the store I bought it at will install the new pup.

My question is, it comes with Texas special pup's. Are they the same as the Custom Shop texas specials? Should I just buy a set of CS TS's instead of waiting for my replacement TS pup to come in from Fender?

Thanks
Kevin

Also, should I swap out the vintage 6 saddle bridge plate? What are some good bridges,

I've tried Joe Barden on another tele, don't like it.

Glendale are very expensive, but are they worth it?

Wilkinson seem to look nice and are affordable, are they any good?

Hi Kevin, I bought my JB Std Tele in '95 and it does come with Custom Shop Texas Specials p/u's. These are fantastic pick ups and as far as I'm concerned they are the best esp the bridge. With the neck pick up you have this tele sounding like a jazz guitar, just roll down the tone. As for the bridge, I left mine alone. I had a good set up about 10 years ago and it still has not needed one.. In '96 I met the Fender rep in Toronto, Ont. and he told me that all of this guitar is USA made except for the paint job on the body. He told me and i quote.. " This is the cheapest US Tele you can buy." I am so happy with this guitar and I will NEVER sell it. Anyone who plays it, loves it.

Check out James Burton on Youtube, or his website. I think you'll find, he's the man!

He came up with the lick for susie Q for Dale Hawkins. The CCR version is a cover recorded years later.
