Sweet guitar. I haven't played one yet, but from what I see and hear about it Fender must have got it right.

Right now I am on the fence between the Baja and the Highway One... The price is a push - $50 difference between the two... Wish I had $1,600 to burn instead of $800...

Does the Baja capture the "classic" tele sound or do the Twisted Tele and Broadcaster pickups have a more unique tone to them? Thanks for any replies.

Agree 1000% with bluestube.... run, don't walk to the nearest Guitar Center by you and see if they have a leftover Baja. I don't know if GC's
prices are standard across the nation, but I paid $500 for a 2006 in great shape - no scratches, dings or dents on the body - a few little ones on the pickguard, but no big deal !!! If they don't have one there, maybe they can search other Guitar Center stores and find one for you. You'll love it !!

Are you sure it is not a Tex-Mex? They run about $500 and are "similar"...

BTW - I went with the Highway One...

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I just called the nearest GC and they don't have any and don't have any on order. I do most of my business with a music store about 4 hours from me and they have one. I'll get down there in the next week or so and try one out. Thanks again.

Over the holidays, I noticed that the price on the Baja Tele I had been gassing for at my local Guitar Center had a +$300 price drop.

When I asked the manager why they were being blown out, he said the Baja Teles were "D" listed in the computer which meant they were discontinued. Does that mean Fender has discontinued production of the model or is GC simply no longer stocking them?

Regardless, for less than $500, I have a guitar that's supplanted a custom shop piece as my second favorite guitar to play. :D

They are still listed at $699 in Indiana, and the distribution center in Kansas City is still receiving them from Fender and still shipping them out...

Didn't know that the Baja Tele was available in the see through blond. Great playing and sounding Tele, especially for the money. I only have seen them in the sand color, which I don't care for (no offence to you sand color fans out there). If I would have seen one in blond I might have pulled the trigger......I love my Thin Skin '52 more every day, but I wouldn't have minded saving almost $700.00 (around 600.00 of which would have been promptly spent on the mint condition used '65 Deluxe Reverb RI I saw and another 100.00 to upgrade to a hardshell case 8) .
