Another option - browse the Mouser Electronics catalog at

http://www.mouser.com/

and they have a wealth of components, not only a special series of guitar pots, to the very high quality capacitors for tone circuits to low noise metal film resistors.

You can buy here *before* the dealer markup.

I'm not associated with them other than being a customer over last couple of decades.

Mouser and DigiKey are both good places for electronics parts, but oftentimes, they have too many choices which may overwhelm the novice or inexperienced modder. But if you're going to buy in bulk, or can decipher the descriptions and spec sheets decently, these are the places to go.

You are, of course, 100% correct as the possible confusion factor. If you're not an electronics geek (I am), a normal person would be in over their head after the first three pages of a Mouser catalog.

So saying, it pains me greatly when I see some store selling ceramic disc capacitors (the cheapest of the cheap) in a plastic bag, three for $5.
