Hello all,

at christmas i received a MIM tele in Lake Placid blue. Had it set up, the fret sprout gone low action, plays really nice.

a friend of mine had purchased the american deluxe in cherry with the S-1 switching, binding, nice alder top(light) drop dead mint. he got it on black friday for a good price i think 1100-1200. these go new for 1749.99

he is a p-90 guy and has a really nice G&L w p90's so he is getting rid of the american dlx. believe me, it's been played twice. and once was last night when i played it at church. so,
do i sell my MIM abd go for the AM DLX?
the noisless PU's sound nice.....

thanks

It really depends on how YOU like the feel and sound of it.

Now that is a pickle my friend.
I have a MIM Strat in lake placid blue and it is a pritty color. That and the candy apple red MIM's will be discontinued someday and you'll wish you never sold it as those colors come on some nicer guitars. (yes I know their available on the squier's). You will also be able to pick one up used on craigslist or at a pawn shop someday.
On the other hand "only played twice" and it's obtainable, the American Deluxe Tele is a very great playing guitar not to pass up. You will also be able to pick one up at craigslist or a pawn shop but you know where it's been so.....
I tried to be objective as much as I can be. The choice is yours man.

I've got a 2008 MIA Tele Deluxe, in vintage cherryburst. It's a fine instrument, as well as hot looking. At $800 I'd take it in a heartbeat, tough decision though. I still regret selling my MIM Tele Custom 72, another great guitar :( Post a few pix if you get the lux, or post a few pix of your current guitar

$800 is a good deal, jump on it if you can. I just paid $600 for a MIM Nashville Tele.

Simple: Both.

The MIM was a gift you say? Well then you're not out of pocket are you? If you have the cash grab that AmDx because that's a steal of a deal. Keep both for a while and see if you want to dump one of them later. Guitars are not women - they don't get mad if you date more than one at the same time.

There is simply no question, deals like scoring an American deluxe in minty fresh condition for half of the new store price do not come along very often. I would snap that deluxe up in an instant!

The MIM Tele's are fantastic, but there's something unrivaled in terms of feel and tone from the American Deluxe stuff. I'm assuming this one you played also had the stomach contour, which is great for a tele. I'd definitely go for the Deluxe, cause they're just plain great all around.

That's an amazing deal for a mint condition American Deluxe. I wouldn't think twice about going for it but I'm at the point where I don't even try to control my GAS anymore.

I went to my favorite local Guitar Center right before Christmas to buy an American Vintage '52 Reissue but a Cherry Burst American Deluxe caught my eye and I had to have it after I played it. It's an outstanding guitar.
