A real '51 and not a reissue from the Custom Shop?

Your best bet is to have it professionally appraised.

Go here and click on "appraisal" on the left side of the page for more info.

I have some good news for you:If your Nocaster was made with just a Fender decal it would be worth at least $80-100,000 if it has a "clipped" decal, that is a Broadcaster decal that had the Broadcaster logo cut off before it was put on the guitar it should be worth $70,000-88,000 that is of course if it's in excellent condition. If however it still has the original case and patch cord it would be worth considerably more. You will need an official appraisal from a certified appraiser such as George Gruhn,he does appraisals over the net but will need a lot of pix of the guitar from all angles and close ups of neck, headstock, internal cavity, pups etc. He's about the No. 1 authority on guitars. You can contact him at: gruhn.com.
These estimates are from the Vintage Guitar mag Price Guide.Hope this was of some help.

Just Fender decal under clear coat.

Last time I had appraised was in Dallas at Charleys Guitar Shop (think that was the name) ....that was 20+yrs ago at $15k.

Well if it's just Fender and no sign of it being trimmed from a larger decal you have the higher valued one, that's quite a jump from $15,000.I'd love to see that puppy too.
