Confirmed Tele players like Keith Richards and Roy Buchanan could be pretty uncivilized at times and there was a time in the 60s that Pete Townshend used almost exclusively Teles as they were in his experience the hardest to destroy,a pretty uncivilized past time.BTW I have a Tele too.

Tele players civilized?

Heck no. Tele players are a bunch of tobacco-spittin barefoot country bumpkins who wear straw hats and overalls without shirts underneath.

BASS PLAYERS are the civilized ones.

You must excuse me now. I'm off to bass forum for a cup of tea, which I will drink with my pinky extended and a snooty expression on my face.

Oh my, where did I leave my ascot?

(just trying to stir up a ruckus)

Well I can't speak for the others, and I might not be the most civilized Tele player, but I am surely the most humble of them all.

How can any group containing Keith Richards and Ray Davies be considered civilized.

Civilized compared to what? Somalian pirates or cro magnon man?

The simple fact is just as the strat is the more elegant, adaptable guitar for all occasions. So are strat players. Were equally at home with dinner parties hosted by the duke and duchess of Belvoir as we are a impromptu rendition of classical gas.

Were a cut above, dontchyerknow.

Playing a Strat brings out my wilder muse.

Playing a Tele brings out my soulful muse.

But...that's just me.

What an entertaining thread  joking aside though. I've always felt the Tele forum, is much more chilled than the Strat forum. The regulars in here rarely fight and squabble, long may it continue.

Well I have just been converted to a Tele man but I have to go with what Miami Mike said.

Strat= I wanna beat up and rock out with.

Tele= I wanna sit down and just blues it up and relax.

Now that i think of it...thats kinda weird. 8)

We've obviously had genteel role models... like that nice Mr Richards and Mr Springsteen - Gents, both.

And that most lovely of people Izzy Stradlin too with his pleasant 4 friends.

When I'm on stage with my Tele I'm in grizzly heaven, I feel dirty like I'm performing a sex act with the devil's missus. Everyone I know who plays Teles love them cos they can pass out drunk on top of them and they'll still be ok.

Tele players are NOT civilised,

OK so who do we think WOULD be civilized then? How about players of the Gretsch Country Gentleman? That name sounds fairly civilized. ....

Actually so does the Telecaster now that I think about it. Like a TV fishing show.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
