I dont think the neck would fit "perfectly", maybe close, but might have an overhang?

Sure they will.

Scale lengths are the same. The 22nd fret is an "overhang" and extends over the pickguard. Easy swap.

I say this with the understanding that you're trying to match "like" parts, like an American Standard Telecaster neck on....oh, let's just say a MIM '50s Classic Tele body. MIM Standard body works too.

I'm talking about "normal" Fender Telecasters with four-bolt necks, 25.5" scale lengths, etc.

I'm not saying ANY 22 fret neck will fit ANY Telecaster body, but generally speaking - yeah, you can swap similar Fender necks all day long and the only drawback is you can't easily change a pickguard with a 22 fret neck with the overhang without loosening, if not removing, the neck.

thank you george. i know there is a overhang on models that come with 22 fret necks but i didnt know if it would be a problem on a guitar that came with a 21 fret neck.
