Well I have owned this thing for a few years and it has never really played as well as it should. It's I believe a 2003 and it's American made. It has the three saddle bridge. I can't figure out how to set the correct string height and the bridge in general. What can I do to improve my tele. My girlfrends 300 epiphone at special plays better than my guitar help! Also I want a heavier pickup for death metal sounds. What should I do?

Take it to a music shop and let them do a complete set up on it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'd opt for bringing it to a tech as the bridge you have can be a bit tricky to set up for a 1st timer.Somehow the words Tele and death metal don't appear right in the same sentence as the Tele is such a clean sounding guitar unless you intend to overdrive it through a really high gain pedal.I think a humbucker equipped guitar would be better suited fot you.

Clean? Whaddaya mean?
This is the dirtiest sounding guitar I own. But yeah, it's definitely not a death metal guitar, more of a Keith Richards kinda thing.

I guess I should have been more specific, what I meant was that the Tele when plugged straight into the amps clean channel and not overdriven has quite possibly the cleanest tone of any guitar.I know that they can dirty up nicely as I have one also,it just seems to me that a 'bucker equipped guitar would probably be better suited for death metal.SGs are perfectly suited for metal as they can get filthy dirty tones when plugged into an amp such as a JCM 900 without any overdrive device.
