Have you played the Cyclone? Just because someone says a guitar "sounds good" doesn't mean that you'll like it. Apparently the Cyclones didn't have a lot of fans since the model was discontinued by Fender.

I am a tele and strat guy, but I think you should play it and see how it sounds and feels then make your decision.

I am partial to a tele or strat, but you should play a cyclone through the model amp you play with and see how it sounds and feels, then make your decision.

I have both a Tele and a Cyclone. The Cyclone rarely gets played anymore. The Tele has more of the classic tones I'm looking for.

To me I'd rather have a regular Mustang than the cyclone..The 3 pickup cyclone could have been the exception but only saw them on Fender's website never in person. For what it was a Fat Strat would do pretty much the same job

Interesting. One of the reasons I bought the Cyclone was to try to "replace" the Mustang I sold so many years ago. It didn't work.

I just bought a Cyclone HH last night, just getting used to it. I like it, sounds nice - different, you know.
But I guarantee that it is not a replacement for a tele...

BLAH! DO NOT BUY A CYCLONE!!!

I am not a MIM kind of guy but I know someone with your Tele and let me tell you, it is far superior than the Cyclone. I purchased the Cyclone a few years ago from Musiciansfriend and blah. It looked awesome, black with that cool redish brown perloid pickguard but that was about it. The tuners are terrible and so is the bridge. I could breathe on it wrong and it would come out of tune. Also, the nut that kept the PU selector together was frighteningly loose. The PU's were nothing to brag about either. If I can remember correctly, mine came with the TexMex blah blah something in the neck and the Fender Powerhouse Humbicking pickup in the bridge. If you want to get a guitar to hang on the wall and look at, get a Cyclone. If you want something that plays well, stay away from it. I think I ended up selling it for like $300 to a buddy. If you buy it, expect to buy new tuners, bridge and maybe some pickups.
